The JT Lady Jaguars fell apart in the fourth quarter, giving the JKL Lady Dolphins a 2-1 lead in the National Basketball League playoffs.

At the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday, the JKL Lady Dolphins defeated the JT Lady Jaguars 77-59 in the NBL Finals.

Despite getting off to a strong start, the Kira-based team dropped their second straight game due to the Lady Dolphins' zonal defence.

The Lady Jaguars took a six-point (24–18) lead at the end of the first quarter after the Lady Dolphins' high pick and roll failed.

Becky Keren Longom came off the bench to strengthen the defence of the defending champions as the Lady Dolphins struggled to keep up with the Lady Jaguars' rapid transitional style.

The Lady Dolphins led by a slender margin of one point (36-35) at the half.

As the Lady Jaguars entered the final quarter trailing by one point (52–51), they improved their defence after coming out of the locker rooms.

The Lady Dolphins' experience and mindset provided them with the advantage in the last quarter as the Lady Jaguars struggled offensively and made poor decisions.

Sudi Ulanga, the coach of the Lady Jaguars, had to call a timeout because the team was ahead 8-0 going into the fourth quarter. However, the Jaguars trailed by 18 points and were only able to score eight points in spite of the team talk.

The Lady Dolphins' top scorers in double figures were Brenda Ekone (11 points), Evelyn Nakiyinji (12 points), Hope Akello (17 points), and Flavia Oketcho (13 points).

However, the only Lady Jaguars players to score in double figures were Rhoda Nagitta (15 points) and Shakirah Nanvubya (13 points).

Ahead of its second edition, which will take place at Gulu's Kaunda Grounds on December 6, 2025, Tusker Lite has announced a collaboration with the Gulu City Marathon.

The premium beer brand, which is well-known for boosting running and lifestyle events in Uganda, is bringing its distinctive vibrancy to the northern metropolis, promising runners and partygoers a culturally immersive, entertaining, and fitness-infused experience.

By encouraging active living and community involvement, the brand hopes to increase its impact in Uganda's running scene and build on the success of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon, which was hosted in Kasese in August.

Denise Nazzinda, Uganda Breweries Limited's Brand Manager for Tusker Lite, said the partnership exemplifies the company's dedication to bringing people together via common experiences.
The Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon demonstrated to us that running can foster community and provide lifelong memories in addition to physical fitness. We want to bring that same spirit to Gulu and make this marathon even more spectacular," Nazzinda stated.

The 42-kilometre full marathon, 21-kilometre half marathon, 10-kilometre, and 5-kilometre fun and family runs will all be part of the Gulu City Marathon, which has the theme Running for Culture and Heritage. The Great North Run Company is organising the event, which is expected to draw over 1,000 people and promote running tradition in northern Uganda as well as culture and health.

The day will end with an after-party at which Tusker Lite will treat runners and supporters to a VIP event honouring accomplishment and the exciting nightlife of Gulu.
People often run in the morning and then go home for most marathons. This is not just a race; we want to make it more. It will be a celebration of uniqueness, growth, and community," Nazzinda continued.

Medals will be awarded to all finishers, and registered participants will receive a personalised event T-shirt and string bag for UGX 60,000.

The collaboration strengthens Tusker Lite's theme of living fearlessly and savouring life to the fullest and represents another phase in the company's expanding support for Uganda's fitness and lifestyle events.

Tonight, Tuesday, October 28, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, the 2025 National Basketball League women's championships will resume. The JKL Lady Dolphins and JT Lady Jaguars are tied at one game each and are vying for a vital advantage in the best-of-seven series.

The four-time NBL champions and reigning champions, JKL, used their defensive organisation and rebounding to stifle the Jaguars' offence and win 52–38 on Sunday to even the score after dropping the first game.

Brenda Ekone and Hope Akello played a key role in that triumph. Ekone commanded the tempo and punished the Jaguars in transition, while Akello dominated both ends, ending with 16 points and 21 rebounds.

Their leadership has served as the cornerstone of JKL's campaign for a third straight championship.

The JT Lady Jaguars, who are playing in their first-ever finals, had a total offensive collapse in Game Two after impressing in Game One with their excellent execution and perimeter shooting.

They shot 2 of 25 from three-point range, only made one-third of their free throws, and missed three of the four quarters without scoring ten points or more.

It was the team's worst attacking performance of the season, according to coach Sudi Ulanga. His team's defensive structure maintained strong in spite of this, limiting JKL to just 52 points.

He will be hoping for better decision-making and more accurate finishing in tonight's match.
